We Locate People offers tracing services based on the information provided by the client. While we use reasonable care and skill in carrying out our work, the success of any search depends on the accuracy and availability of information and records.

We reserve the right to refuse any instruction where:

• we believe the request is unlawful, inappropriate, unsafe, or unethical;

• insufficient information is provided to begin a search;

• the request falls outside the scope of our services.

5. Restrictions on Services

We Locate People does not offer searches for:

​

• individuals under the age of 18;

• adopted individuals;

• any person where the search would be unlawful, inappropriate, or unethical.

We reserve the right to decline any case at our discretion.

6. Fees and Payment

All fees for services are as stated on the website or otherwise confirmed to you before work begins.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise for a particular service, all fees paid are non-refundable.

For family tracing and old friends/colleagues tracing services:

• the initial fee is payable upfront to begin the search;

• if the person is successfully located and wishes to have contact, a second fee becomes payable before contact is facilitated;

• if the person does not wish to have contact, no second-stage contact fee is payable.

For beneficiary tracing:

• the initial fee is payable upfront to begin the search;

• the second fee becomes payable once the beneficiary has been successfully located;

• fees remain payable regardless of whether the subject wishes to have contact or disclose information.

​

For tenant tracing:

• the service is offered on a no find, no fee basis where stated;

• the fee only becomes payable once the tenant has been successfully located in accordance with the service description.

7. Non-Refundable Fees

All fees paid to We Locate People are non-refundable, including but not limited to upfront search fees, research fees, and case handling fees, once work has commenced.

This is because fees cover time, research, tracing activity, administration, and case handling costs. A refund will not be due simply because the outcome is not the one the client hoped for.

8. No Guarantee of Outcome

We do not guarantee that every search will be successful, nor do we guarantee that a located person will agree to contact or to the release of their information.

A successful trace does not necessarily mean that contact details will be disclosed to you or that direct contact will take place.

9. Consent and Disclosure of Information

We Locate People takes privacy and consent seriously.

No contact details, address details, or other identifying personal information will be provided to a client without the subject’s consent, unless we are lawfully entitled or required to do so.

Where appropriate, we may act as an intermediary between the client and the located person.

If the subject does not wish to have contact or does not consent to the disclosure of their details, that decision will be respected.

10. Beneficiary Tracing

Where a beneficiary is successfully located and a solicitor is acting in the estate matter, our report may be provided to the solicitor dealing with the estate.

If no solicitor is involved, the subject’s consent may be required before any information can be disclosed.

If consent is refused, no identifying information will be provided to the client.

11. Tenant Tracing

For tenant tracing services, we may require a copy of the signed tenancy agreement before releasing any report or information to the client.

This service is available only for legitimate landlord, lettings, housing, or property-related reasons.

12. Client Responsibilities

The client agrees:

​

• to provide accurate and truthful information;

• not to instruct We Locate People for any unlawful, harmful, harassing, or improper purpose;

• not to misuse any information provided by We Locate People;

• to ensure that any information supplied to us has been provided lawfully.

We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any instruction where false, misleading, or incomplete information is provided.

13. Reports and Information Provided

Any report, update, or information provided by We Locate People is supplied solely for the client who instructed the service and only for the purpose for which the service was requested.

Reports must not be copied, shared, published, or used for unlawful or improper purposes.

14. Consultations and Enquiries

Submitting an enquiry form or booking a telephone consultation does not create a binding contract for tracing services. A contract for paid services begins only once we accept the instruction and any required payment has been made.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, We Locate People shall not be liable for:

• indirect or consequential loss;

• emotional distress arising from the outcome of a search;

• loss caused by inaccurate information supplied by the client or third parties;

• a subject refusing contact or refusing consent to disclosure.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Privacy and Data Protection

We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
